"Luther Quotations"; #1A

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ...” (Galatians 1;3)

Grace” indicates our locational position with God (as seen from devotional #1). Christian, your position/location with God is one of “under grace” (Romans 6; 14, 15). The moment you came to faith in Jesus Christ you were spiritually/invisibly transferred from “under the law” (God's wrath) to a position of “under grace” (God's mercy and peace).

Other scriptures reinforce this happy truth of how Christ has accomplished this positional/locational transference for the Christian from one of wrath to grace/love:

1. Colossians 1; 13
He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of His
beloved son.”

2. Ephesians 2; 6
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked...-by grace you have been
saved-and (He) raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ
Jesus...”

3. Ephesians 2;12-13
- remember that you were at that time separated from Christ...But now in Christ Jesus you who were
once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”

How has this positional transference taken place? Each of the following passages indicate that this blessing experienced by Christians is accomplished by "grace." (See Ephesians 1; 2, 6, 7, 2; 5, 7, 8)
That is, Christ has accomplished this locational change on our behalf and applied it to us who believe as a free, unmerited GIFT!

Hear Luther on the benefits Christians experience through the grace/gift of Christ:

Through (CHRIST ALONE) we are assured of the forgiveness of sins, and once we have obtained this, our conscience is at rest and is comforted by the word of grace. If we are comforted and heartened by
the grace of God...we are able to bear all troubles valiantly and to overcome them, even death itself.
This peace of God is not given to the world...it is given to those who believe (TRUST SOLELY IN
CHRIST). And this happens only by the grace of God.” (p.33)
